Johnny Bench (Johnny Lee Bench) was born on December 7, 1947 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He made his Major League debut on August 28, 1967 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1968, his rookie year, he hit .275 with 15 home runs and 82 RBI. Bench played for the Cincinnati Reds for his entire 17 year career.
Most people believe that Johnny Bench's best season was 1970, when he slugged 45 home runs, hit for a .293 average and knocked in 148 runs.
